Onboarding is a process that new hires go through to obtain the resources and information they need to start their new job with the company. Apart from the hiring process, onboarding is an employee’s first real look at what the company’s all about. This gives employers the opportunity to inform the new hires about the company, and give them a warm welcome. Starting a new job with a new company can be very intimidating. Not only is it important for a new employee to have a good impression on a company, but it is also important for a company to have a good first impression on a new employee. Making your new hires feel welcome and appreciated can be done in a multitude of ways.
Inform your new hires about the company’s background, culture, and morale. Giving incoming employees a glimpse into the history of the company will help them understand culture within the company. Introduce them to company leaders (CEO, Owner, VP, Founder, etc.) and make them familiar with their expectations. Go on to tell them about what life as an employee is like, employee events, benefits, and day to day culture within the office.
Letting your new hires know that they’re appreciated and making them feel welcome, while sometimes overlooked, is just as important as teaching them about the company. Give your new hires a warm welcome by giving them a welcome bag full of company branded goodies. Nothing says “Welcome to the team!” like a premium branded ballcap. Along with the hat, provide them with things like a handbook, stationary items, etc. to set them up for success with your company. We at Lifted Logos are ready to help you create a memorable and welcoming onboarding experience for your new employees.
